'Invasion' 2014, Acrylic paint on wall. Bag Factory residency, Johannesburg
While on an artist's residency in 2014 at Factory Residency (Johannesburg, South Africa), Carlo Galli made a series of site-specific installations inspired by the city and the local community. By means of repetition –often present in his oeuvre- and using a tank as the main feature of the compositions, the artist broached and explored a whole collection of subjects that were highly sensitive for the local population, namely, race, violence control and protection. Invasion (2014) should be regarded as a highly relevant part of Galli's body of work, as it represents the first time he dealt with interculturality.
